The engines dies in a few feet then starboard rigger clip goes, now I'm in the water trying to get back into the boat & reel in the fish. I end up getting in & getting this guy."

"I often fish alone in a 17 foot inflatable. And I'm often in places where there are few other boats, the water is cold and rough (central coast of B.C. where we're headed now) and I'm trolling.
Under those conditions I have to be constantly aware of the risk of falling overboard. So I always wear a life jacket with a waterproof hand held VHF in the pocket. And I never unhook the tether to the kill switch. With your autotether I'll be able to enjoy the safety I need with the pleasure of not having that chord hanging up on everything..... Which it does often. Of course, it always seems to happen when I get a fish on.... Nothing like trying to play a fish while at the same time trying to untangle the kill switch chord which has somehow gotten wrapped around the butt of your rod!!! Anyway, you get the picture. to see if they could help get one that would work with my Yamaha and was surprised by the response. Remember I did not buy it from either the factory or a dealer but a private individual.
I had a very short turnaround time since I was heading to Mexico in a few days and wanted the unit working before I left. I talked to Joe Perez and Andrea Frickman concerning my dilemma. To say they were helpful would be a gross understatement. They not only got the clip and the tools to change it to me before my departure but would take no money whatsoever. Joe even went into detail on how to not only change the clip but gave me a tutorial on how to operate the unit itself.
Needless to say the Autotether not only worked as described but is so easy to set up and use that I believe anyone, regardless of how helpless, could accomplish the task with no problem whatsoever. Other fishermen that I encountered were so impressed that they to intend to purchase one upon their return to the States.
